A climate change catastrophe will look a lot like war. Before the ice caps melt, before the jet stream changes course, long before sea levels take Manhattan, we humans will erode what’s civil between us. Small changes in the food supply will pretend to be regional disputes. Genocide will be hailed in the name of freedom. Monopolies will speak the language of free markets and policing will shift into containment.

Where were you born? Who are your parents? The answers will be the largest determiner of your worth. We will find value in the lives of some and others not. History that we’ve sanitized or forgotten will obscure its cautionary tale and our demand for simple answers will be obliged.

It is difficult to imagine such destruction made by our own hand, so we will imagine something else.

Climate change is about a change in us, a change in what we’re willing to accept. It is a shift in what we define as good and how we justify the things we want. A clean energy solution will not be found to fit within the confines of our current economic system and the status quo will not go down without a fight.

September 21, hop a bus, make a fuss, come to New York City. Join the voices that shine light on dark places.

What are you willing to fight for?

Keep Your Eye on the Ball Merica!

As day two of the California Health Benefit Exchange portion of Obamacare continues to overwhelm our state’s servers, I am distraught over the real stories of friends and family finding affordable access to healthcare through this overreach by our federal government.

Having to listen to a close friend ramble on about visiting https://www.coveredca.com and feeling elated over the prospect of affording preventive health care for his infant son or the babblings about now splurging on luxuries like food, is a real distraction from the real issue. That is, we are one step closer to communism, bankruptcy and angering Jesus, because Jesus hates babies…and poor people.
